Storm Update - Tornado Touches Down in Elmhurst

Well tonight I attend a dinner for young political types with Mark at the home of Caroline Stillman in Clarendon Hills. We were having a lovely meal when all of a sudden pounding winds and non-stop lightening and thunder start up. I immediately start to panic, thinking about my precious angels at home. Everyone at the table was raised in the midwest, so they all think I'm crazy for panicking, when all of a sudden, the tornado sirens start. My dear Californians, this is a sound you never want to hear. It's just ere. So then the lights go out. We light candles and move the dinner into the basement while huge thunder claps boom in the background. I got tears in my eyes, and I think Mark was embarrassed by my California wimpiness, but seriously, I would sit through a 7.0 quake any day over that b.s. At least with a quake you don't know it's on its way, and it's over in a few seconds.

Tornadoes are freaky!

We finally got to leave about an hour later, and luckily we came home to electricity and our precious angels. They were a little shaken, but fine.
