The Journal

I used to make fun of my mom for it, because how can someone with three babies have time to journal, but now at 28 years old I appreciate it more than ever. During the first year of my life my mom kept a daily journal, documenting all the fun things we did and all my new developments. As John and I continue to have sleepless nights, I find myself cracking open the journal to see what I was up to at 7 weeks.
One day we'd be off to the Italian Catholic Federation Pancake Breakfast and the next we were taking a drive in the country side picking walnuts (probably illegally knowing Numbers).
I tried starting a journal for John when I was pregnant but grew bored of it since everyday was like "yeah nothing new here, just eating ice cream and getting fatter : )
Having this journal from my mom to keep me company at night has re-inspired me to get writing again. I may need to do a lenthy catch up chapter, but I know even if John doesn't appreciate it one day, it will be fun for me to look back on.
Being sleep deprived can often make the days feel long, but I don't want to not soak in all the fun we're having as well. Yesterday it was a visit to dad's office downtown Chicago and today we'll venture back into the city for a playdate with the Heger boys.
Sitting with my first cup of coffee at 5 a.m. this morning, I looked over at my sweet angel babe who flashed me a quick smile before nodding back off into dream land.... Life is good.
