In a New York State of Mind....

We got up at 5am and headed to NYC on Saturday morning and the weather was horrible. It snowed until we got half way through Conn., and the plows couldn't keep up with it. To make matters worse, Mark was hung over from the rugby social the night before, so our slipping and sliding on the road wasn't helping his queasy stomach. We made a pit stop for supplies...

Once we got into the city we checked into our hotel and then went on a tour of the NBC studios, which was a blast. We were able to see the stage where SNL is filmed and the actors were practicing, so we saw Fred Armeson, Bill Rador and Kristin Wigg. It was so awesome. Below is me hanging out by the ticker at the Today Show studios.

Later in the day we took the subway down to Wall St and ground zero. The site itself was just a massive crater with bulldozers, but accross the street was a wonderfully moving memorial with pieces of the wreckage, and a huge wall of the missing persons signs and photos. I completely lost it. It was overwhelmingly moving.

After we headed back uptown, we got spiffed up and went to Sparks Steakhouse for dinner. The food was great and it had a nice, moblike feel to it. Then we headed to the Upper East Side to Brandy's Piano Bar for drinks and live entertainment. It was a blast. They had amazing singers doing everything from Elton John to Billy Joel to the Beatles. It was a blast.

We got up Sunday morning, had some breakfast and then took a horse and buggy tour of Central Park. Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery just as we had some of the most beautiful views in the city.

We packed up our stuff around 1pm and headed home. It was such an amazing trip. So much fun.
